Electronic Arts has revealed additional details about the upcoming multiplatform version of Monopoly currently being developed by its casual games division.

As part of last year's deal between EA and Hasbro, the publishing giant is bringing the board game classic to the Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, mobile phones and Pogo.com. Featuring four-player gameplay and a "party twist," the new take on the old game features faster gameplay that eliminates waiting, instantly recognizable cities and landmarks from around the world, brand new game boards and interactive mini-games in either offline single or multiplayer action.

"EA is taking Monopoly's core gameplay and bringing it to life in a way never before imagined," said EA Casual Vice President Chip Lange. "With this dynamic take on Hasbro's classic board game, we've accelerated the pace of play, added new interactive mini-game sequences and integrated multiplayer moments designed to make Monopoly a non-stop party for the whole family."

"It promises to be a very exciting fall for Monopoly fans worldwide. EA has done a tremendous job of re-imagining the world's most popular board game by remaining true to the traditional gameplay that millions of consumers have come to love while also creating new digital twists that can only be achieved in an interactive world," added Mark Belcher, Hasbro's general manager of digital media and gaming. "Rolling the dice and passing go will never be the same."

EA Casual's new Monopoly videogame is set to release across all platforms in conjunction with the worldwide launch of a new, updated version of the board game this fall.
