The next Halo novel will introduce a new set of Spartans this fall.

Halo: The Cole Protocol will be written by science-fiction author Tobias S. Buckell (Crystal Rain, Ragamuffin) and published by Tor Books, the producer of both of Buckell's hits and the past two Halo books.

Following Spartan Grey Team "on a mission far outside the confines of UNSC space," as described in previous novel Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, the adventure "takes readers into an unexplored conflict of the Human-Covenant War where unlikely alliances are formed and shattered."

Former Bungie Content Manager and Microsoft's Franchise Development Director Frank O'Connor commented, "Buckell continues an excellent tradition that's now a solid aspect of the Halo novels, bringing a fresh new perspective to a limitless universe and bringing his prodigious writing talents to bear in ways that will surprise and engage fans of the series and newcomers alike."
