French Artist Re-Imagines Classic Games

A French artist and gamer has taken some of the milestones of gaming and given them a gorgeous new look.

Mikaël Aguirre, known on DeviantArt as Orioto, has created a small gallery of screenshots, rendering classic games like Super Metroid and Sonic the Hedgehog in a high definition style reminiscent of Jonathan Blow's Braid.

Each image is the product of hours of painstaking work and brings the halcyon days of the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis thoroughly into the modern day. The gallery can be found here and each image can be downloaded in a massive resolution suitable for printing.

Apparently there is something on DeviantArt other than Princess Peach hentai. Who knew?
