Guitar Hero to Get "The Touch"?

| 17 Mar 2009 14:43

Stan Bush's 80s rock anthem "The Touch" - best known as the theme for the animated Transformers movie - will be making its way to Guitar Hero, says no less an authority than Bush himself.

So, children of the 80s, let's play a little word-association game - I'll say a phrase, and then you tell me what comes to mind. Ready? Here goes:

"Arise, Rodimus Prime."

If those three words didn't automatically bring to mind the melodic tones of Stan Bush - "You've got the touch! You've got the pow-errrrr! Yeah!" - then I'm afraid we're going to have to revoke your 80s rights. Please head downtown where we will promptly confiscate your big, poofy hair.

For all of those of you who belted "The Touch" in your bedroom or in the shower, pretending you were right there fighting the Decepticons alongside Optimus Prime, Ultra-Magnus, and Bumblebee, you might have a chance to relive your childhood soon enough. According to the Stan-man himself, Guitar Hero owners will be getting "The Touch" for free.

"I've been holding off announcing this, but 'The Touch' is going to be in Guitar Hero! Activision will be releasing it as a free download," Bush told Transformers fansite Seibertron. He could not, however, provide a time frame for when the song would be available.

Given that there's no word from Activision, we're still putting this one in the "Rumors" column for now until there's official confirmation on the other side of the deal. Even if it is just a rumor, it's an awesome rumor.

Also, apologies in advance for getting this song stuck in your head for the rest of the week.
