The Pitt Launches to Bugs, Crashes on Xbox 360

| 24 Mar 2009 16:15

Bethesda is hard at work figuring out what went wrong with the Xbox 360 version of The Pitt, the new Fallout 3 DLC that went live today amid a torrent of crashes, lockups and other nasty bugs.

Many areas in the new expansion are packed with floating trees, buildings, debris and most disconcerting of all, gigantic red exclamation marks. Lockups and crashes also seem to be occurring with alarming frequency.

The problem, according to Eurogamer, appears to be related to the size of the update: The file on Xbox Live is 492.21 megabytes in size, while the PC update - which apparently went out successfully - comes in at roughly 682 megabytes. A forum post by Bethesda Community Manager "Gstaff" says the DLC on Xbox Live was "corrupted," and that Bethesda is now trying to have it pulled to avoid any further downloads.

"We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360," Gstaff wrote. "As of now it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads. Our plan is to replace it with a new file as soon as possible. We hope to have another update for you shortly."

A video showing some of the bugs in question is available on YouTube.
