Final Fantasy is the first game in the Final Fantasy series, originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is known for helping popularize the role-playing game genre in the US, along with many conventions such as the use of a menu system for battles. Other gameplay elements include random, turn-based battles and classes that change character abilities. The player control four characters, who are tasked to defeat four Elemental Fiends, restore four classical elemental orbs, and save the world from the archdemon Chaos. The game has been ported to and remade for several platforms since its release.
