Minecraft is a open world free-form single and multiplayer construction game. Players break down and move cubic blocks to build items, tools, and structures in the procedurally-generated game world. Players may also hunt animals for materials, and must avoid dangerous creatures like spiders and "creepers." Minecraft gained notoriety quickly after the first Alpha version was released, and sold more than a million copies while still in Beta.
