The Xbox 360 is a home console designed to play videogame and media DVDs and CDs. It has helped popularize download distribution for consoles through the Xbox Live Marketplace. Its launch marked the beginning of the seventh generation of consoles. It features a free online service that allows access to the online store, and a subscription service called Xbox Live Gold which allows multiplayer gaming. A new model called the Xbox 360 S, which features a different form factor and Kinect integration, was released June 18, 2010.
