Blizzard Entertainment has announced BlizzCon 2008, the third installment in its almost-annual series of gaming conventions.
The convention this year has been expanded to three convention halls from two in order to accommodate the growing attendance at the event, which focuses on popular Blizzard franchises like Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo. Previous events have included news and announcements about upcoming Blizzard releases, such as the Wrath of the Lich King expansion for World of Warcraft, which was announced at BlizzCon 2007.
“Whenever we’ve been able to meet and interact with Blizzard gamers from around the world, it’s been a great experience for us,” said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. “We’re looking forward to seeing even more of our players at this year’s BlizzCon and delivering another entertaining and informative event for them.”
Events at BlizzCon 2008 will include discussion panels with Blizzard developers, tournaments, costume and machinima contests, a silent auction, opportunities to try out upcoming Blizzard releases and more. BlizzCon 2008 is running October 10-11 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, with tickets priced at $100 each. Further details will be released as they become available at www.blizzcon.com.
