Attendees of BlizzCon always get neat murloc-themed World of Warcraft items, and this year Blizzard is expanding them to StarCraft II as well.

Blizzard has announced the in-game World of Warcraft bonus it will foist upon attendees of this year’s BlizzCon. Blizzard is continuing the tradition of involving a murloc, World of Warcraft‘s amphibious humanoid creature that emits a trademark gurgle, but is combining it with upcoming World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion star Deathwing.

Deathwing is one of the most feared forces in the World of Warcraft universe as the insane leader of the black dragonflight. Blizzard is offering Deathy at BlizzCon, a murloc pet dressed in a Deathwing costume. According to Blizzard, Deathy is “doing his best to strike fear into the hearts of Azeroth’s crustacean population,” but I can’t help wanting to pat him on the head. Bringing him along on a raid might even make Deathwing chuckle long enough to throw a stick in his mouth (the only proven way to stun a dragon).

And did you think StarCraft II supporters would be left in the space dust? Don’t be a silly murloc. Blizzard will also be awarding attendees with a “Murloc Marine character portrait and a pair of deep-sea decals to emblazon on your units” for the recently released RTS too. They’ll come in Zerg, Protoss, and Terran versions, so nobody gets left behind.

In previous years, Blizzard has awarded those at BlizzCon with a regular old murloc pet, a murloc costume, a mount with riding murloc on the front, and a murloc pet wearing Terran space marine armor. If the murloc isn’t the official mascot of World of Warcraft, it’s definitely the mascot of BlizzCon. BlizzCon 2010 will run from October 22-23.
