Publisher Capcom plans to close the developer of Okami and Viewtiful Joe.

Japanese publisher and developer Capcom announced it will be shutting down Clover Studio, the development studio behind recent games God Hand,Okami, and Viewtiful Joe. A press release on Capcom’s website revealed that the studio will be dissolved by the end of March, 2007.

Capcom’s press release explains: “Clover Studio Co., Ltd. has met the goal of developing unique and creative original home video game software, however, in view of promoting a business strategy that concentrates management resources on a selected business to enhance the efficiency of the development power of the entire Capcom group, the dissolution of Clover Studio Co., Ltd. has been raised and passed at a Board of Directors’ meeting.”

Revised earnings estimates were released today that predict approximately $3.3 million in losses, improving upon the previous expectations. The rise in earnings is being attributed to better than expected sales of Dead Rising on the XBox 360.
