Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Trailer Shows Off Simian Society

A new trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes gives a glimpse at the beginnings of the conflict between humans and apes.

At the end of 2013, fans and moviegoers were given their first look at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. A sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the original trailer showcased a world devastated by disease and a humanity struggling to climb its way back from the brink. If there was one thing it was missing however, it was the actual apes. While it did include a final shot of them looking all ominous at the end, the definite focus was on the plight of humanity in the new wrecked world.

Thankfully, a new trailer for the film goes in the opposite direction, placing humans more on the sidelines and showcasing the developing society of evolved apes. The trailer also gives a bit more attention to the actual plot which seems to start with Gary Oldman’s band of human survivors stumbling across Caeser’s apes and then debating how to deal with them. One side wants to negotiate while another wants to go to war. Based on the rest of the trailer it isn’t hard to figure out which side wins the debate.

Just personally, this trailer has done a good job of hyping me for the film even more than I already. The first movie was great, but it also kind of suffered at times from the people portions of the plot being a tad lackluster compared to the story of Caeser and the progression of his ape rebellion. The humans in Dawn look a lot more interesting in my opinion. Any who, take a look at the trailer yourself and let us know what you think.
