Dead Space Dev Making New Command & Conquer

Visceral Games is working on a new action title set inside the Command & Conquer universe.

Visceral Games is perhaps best known for its sci-fi horror title Dead Space, but parent company EA might be looking to expand its repertoire beyond the works of Dante Alighieri. According to studio general manager Nick Earl, Visceral is working on more than Dead Space 2 – it’s dipping its feet into the Command & Conquer franchise, too.

Earl briefly mentioned the existence of a not-formally-announced action title set in the Command & Conquer universe during a chat with Gamasutra, calling it “pretty far out.” We’re assuming he was referring to the game’s release date, rather than giving an indication that the game would resemble a trip on LSD.

Further comments indicate that the game would be a third-person title a la Dead Space and Dante’s Inferno, rather than a FPS like 2002’s Command & Conquer: Renegade. Renegade is actually a guilty pleasure of mine, to be honest, and I wouldn’t mind seeing a sequel – provided that the developers fixed the incredibly stupid AI that resulted in characters you were trying to escort running in front of your gun every ten seconds.
