MSFS 24: Big Fenix update revamps the A32X and bring support for the latest sim

It has been a bit of a tulmultuous year for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – while clearly being a terrific sim, it is taxing on older hardware and the huge player base that had been built up in the 2020 iteration, along with many of the of the downloads has struggled to transfer from one sim to the other in anything like a smooth fashion.

Microsoft has been here before, though, and seems relatively cool about the whole thing. There were plenty of Flight Simulator X players with hard drives full of addons who needed to be transitioned to 2020 when it came out. These things take time, not just for the core developers of the game, but all the smaller publishers that release aircraft and airports and the like.

Fenix Simulations is one such publisher that has been working hard on getting full compatibility with MSFS 2024 into its A32Xs line of addons – hugely popular versions of the Airbus airliners, loved by many in the sim.

The update will have a ton of features beyond just bug fixes and will include the MSFS walkaround feature, allowing you to do all your pilot pre-flight checking to make sure somebody hasn’t left a hammer in the engine before you attempt to cross the Atlantic.

You can check out all the updates and new features in the half-hour-long vid above at your leisure, but the standout news is definitely the full compatibility for 24. The walkaround looks very cool and adds an unexpected level of immersion to the aircraft.

It all counts for nothing, though, without all the changes in the backend, making it run as smoothly as possible in the latest version of the simulator. A new system of only rendering assets that are needed at any moment in time should take a little of the pressure off your smoking GPU.

As for additions, the landing of the aircraft has also been completely reworked using data from over 800,000 real-world flights, meaning that while things may feel a little different to experienced users, things will be a lot more realistic when it comes to the flare.

There is way too much to mention here, but it is worth adding that a further 50 or so new liveries have been added to the 750 or so already included previously.
