Gears of War 4 Coming to Xbox One For Holiday 2016

The next chapter in the Gears of War saga is on its way to Xbox One.

Microsoft, at its E3 press conference today, has announced Gears of War 4, a new sequel developed by Black Tusk Studios for the Xbox One.

The game’s reveal came with a gameplay trailer that showcased a male protagonist named JD fighting alongside a new female partner character. The trailer opens with the two characters entering some ruins. They eventually encounter a big storm which drives them inside some nearby structures to find shelter. They soon discover however, that said buildings are infested with an organic growth. They shortly exit the ruins to an outdoor area with they encounter some strange looking pods that hatch into a new monster that shoots projectiles from its tail. After a brief fight, they finish said baddies off with a bit of chainsaw rifle goodness.

While a specific release date has not been announced, the gameplay footage did include a brief section where it confirmed that the game is being prepared for release in holiday season 2016. Suffice it to say that the series’ many fans will likely be looking forward to Christmas that year.
