Ghostbusters Will Return to Theaters This Labor Day

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Who ya gonna call?

While Ghostbusters 3 continues to (supposedly) stall and sputter towards production behind the scenes, the original classic will be making a 30th Anniversary return to theaters this Labor Day.

Originally released in 1984, Ghostbusters follows a group of paranormal investigators who seek to expel ghosts, ghouls and other haunting phenomena using science and technology rather than exorcism. They go into business as, essentially, supernatural-exterminators in New York and find success and fame; but begin to suspect that a sharp spike in ghost activity is tied to an occult mystery and the return of an ancient evil god. Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, the late Harold Ramis and (real-life spiritual investigator) Dan Aykroyd starred.

The re-release will be tied mainly to 4K theaters, as part of a promotion for the upcoming Blu-ray release of the film and its sequel.

Deadline: Sony
