God of War III “Not the End of God of War

This article is over 14 years old and may contain outdated information

Worried that this year’s finale to the God of War trilogy means the end of Kratos’ Roaring Rampage of Revenge? You may be worrying over nothing.

In the above video, John Hight – Director of Product Development at Sony Santa Monica, makers of God of War – talks with Gamervision about the finale to the bloody mythology-fueled trilogy, slated to hit in March (a fitting month, considering that it’s named after Mars). It’s a very interesting clip, with some awesome GoW3 footage, and some of the things that Hight says about fighting on the moving landscapes do sound pretty badass indeed. Hell, he makes a much better case for “God of War III only on the PS3″ than talking about the lighting, but I digress.

But amongst all of the information about how the studio has grown along with the series and how Kratos is totally going to make that pansy-ass Zeus his bitch, there’s a little tidbit there at the end that caught my eye:

“This is not the end of God of War,” said Hight. “This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we’re going to continue to do God of War games. We’re going to be very careful about what we do – we’re the keepers of the franchise, and we don’t want to see it ruined or polluted.”

So, there’s going to be more GoW (a sequel to a successful franchise? Shocking!), but it won’t be part of the official trilogy. What then? More PSP games? A sequel that surprisingly stars a young, androgynous rookie Spartan as he infiltrates the Big Shellopolis? Kratos Team Racing?

Your guess is as good as mine.
