Smosh Games has released a new Honest Trailer lampooning The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
It’d be no great exaggeration to say that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is probably one of the most important games ever made. It pushed the limits of game development and provided developers and gamers alike a glimpse at what 3D games could be with enough time, skill and effort. As good as it was however, most who have played can attest to the fact that it still its frustrating and annoying moments.
Hoping to highlight some of these, the folks over at Smosh Games recently turned the Honest Trailers spotlight toward the Nintendo classic to point out some of the lesser foibles of the game and franchise as a whole. A lot of these are what you’d expect. The narrator is quick, for instance, to touch on Navi’s incessant attempts to gain the players attention. That said, the video also hits the franchises maddeningly complex timeline, its tendency to continually rehash the same core ideas and Nintendo’s refusal to call Link an elf when it’s pretty clear that’s what he is.
All in all, it’s a really funny re-visitation of one of the most revered games ever made and we’d definitely recommend you give it a watch, even if you’ve never played Ocarina of Time yourself. Check it out and let us know if you think there’s anything the video didn’t touch on but should have. We promise we’ll listen.
