Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay to Premiere at State of Play This Week

Sony’s next State of Play will finally feature our first look at gameplay in Horizon Forbidden West, and it’s only a few days away. The PlayStation presentation will last around 20 minutes and takes place this Thursday, May 27 at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m., with a pre-show scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. PT / noon ET. A whopping 14 minutes of the show will focus entirely on Horizon Forbidden West gameplay, all captured on PlayStation 5. Thursday’s presentation is primed to be the biggest update we’ve gotten since developer Guerrilla Games revealed its open-world sequel RPG last June.

Horizon Forbidden West is currently set to launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 sometime later this year. While waves of other games have suffered delays for one reason or another, PlayStation and Guerrilla have remained confident in the launch plans for protagonist Aloy’s next journey. That said, updates have been few and far between, though the developer did explain some of its ambitions for the sequel shortly after its initial unveiling.

This isn’t the first time PlayStation has used its State of Play video showcase series to debut extended looks at gameplay; we got another look at the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart at the most recent State of Play in April.
