How Does the Pity System Work in Wuthering Waves?

Here's everything you need to know about the Pity system in Wuthering Waves and how it affects your pulls across all banners

The Pity system is an important aspect of gacha games like Wuthering Waves. Since almost every unit and weapon drop is governed by RNG, the Pity system ensures fairness when it comes to these rewards.

Thanks to this system, you’ll get your hands on every reward that you’re aiming for after a set number of rolls. Since most of these drops are microtransaction-oriented, this system can give you a fair idea of how much you might have to spend to get the highest possible reward

Wuthering Waves Pity System Explained

The key pointers of the Pity system are as follows:

  • A five-star character or weapon is a guaranteed drop every 80 pulls.
  • A four-star character or weapon is a guaranteed drop every 10 pulls.
  • If you’re chasing a featured character, then there’s a 50 percent chance that the five-star unit you get will be a featured character.
    • If you don’t get the featured five-star character the first time, your next five-star is guaranteed to be the featured one.
    • This doesn’t apply to weapon banners. Instead, if you’re chasing a featured weapon, then the first five-star weapon drop is bound to be the featured weapon.

The Pity counter in Wuthering Wave resets the moment you receive a four-star or a five-star unit, and will continue to build up from scratch once again.

Does Pity Carry Over Across Event Banners?

Yes, the Pity counter carries over across event banners. If you’ve done 79 pulls on an event banner without getting a five-star and then stop, your first pull on the next event banner will guarantee a five-star. The 50/50 Pity system on featured characters will also be applicable.

Wuthering Waves Novice Banner Pity System Explained

For the novice banner, the Pity system is even more lenient. While most banners will guarantee you a five-star unit on 80 pulls, the novice banner will guarantee you a five-star unit in 50 pulls only. This is done to ensure that you have a decent team to start your journey. However, once you’ve received the five-star unit from the Novice banner, it will close, and you’ll be placed into the beginner banner with the Pity system pushed up by 30 additional pulls.
