How to Cure Vampirism in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered

Here's everything you need to know about how to cure your Vampirism disease in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered.

Unlike Skyrim, Vampirism is a disease you catch in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered. While being a vampire has its benefits, it has some disadvantages.

There are multiple ways to catch this disease, but how you cure it will depend on how long you’ve been a vampire. The easiest way is by using console commands, but the others will require you to complete specific questlines.

How to Stop Being a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered

If you’ve been a vampire for less than 72 hours, you can cure the disease through the following ways:

  • Eat an item with the “cure disease” effect. For example: Mandrake Root, Root Pulp, Clanfare Claws, Hunger Tongue, Red Kelp Gas Bladder, and Withering Moon.
  • Drink a “cure disease” potion.
  • Visit a Wayshrine or a Chapel and receive a blessing.

However, if 72 hours have passed, the items mentioned above will not work. In such cases, there are only two ways to fix your condition.

  • Complete the Cure Vampire questline.
  • Visit the Font of Renewal in Deepscorn Hollow.

Where to Find the Font of Renewal in Deepscorn Hollow

Deepscorn Hollow is an underground cavern on an island southeast of Leyawiin. While it’s absolutely possible for you to stumble upon this area while exploring Cyrodiil outside of any quest, there’s also a chance that you might be instructed to go find it.

After you’ve completed the tutorial and have spent a few days in Cyrodiil, a random NPC will approach you with a bloodstained note and a key to Deepscorn Hollow. There’s a separate questline associated with this place, too. Even though the quest has nothing to do with you trying to cure Porphyric Hemophilia (the Vampire disease), you won’t be able to enter Deepscorn Hollow unless you have the key.

How to Reach Deepscorn Hollow in Oblivion Remastered

To reach Deepscorn Hollow, make your way to the southern side of the island,   southeast of Leyawiin. You should see a stone well with a few broken stone pillars beside it. Go to the pillars, dive into the water, and after you’ve travelled a short distance, you’ll reach the door to Deepscorn Hollow. Now, you need to make your way to Deepscorn Lair, where the Font of Renewal is actually located.

Head inside, and take your first left, and then another left till you reach a pool of water. Here you’ll find the Font of Renewal. However, if you want to use the Font of Renewal in Oblivion Remastered, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a vampire.
  • Have a stack of Purgeblood Salt. You can mine this from the deposits close to the Font of Renewal.

When you meet these requirements, all you need to do is interact with the structure, and you’ll be cured of Vampirism.

How to Complete the Cure Vampire Quest in Oblivion Remastered

Head to the Arch-Mage’s Lobby in the Arcane University to start this quest and speak to Raminus Polus. He will direct you towards Castle Skingrad, where you will need to talk to Count Janus Hassildor, who also happens to be a vampire.

When you meet him, he’ll tell you to get a Cure Vampirism potion for his wife, and for that, you’ll have to meet a Glenmoril Witch living close to the Corbolo River. Follow the quest marker and then talk to the Witch. She’ll agree to help you, but you’ll have to give her five Grand Soul Gems in return.

When you bring these Grand Soul Gems back, she’ll give you the recipe to craft a potion. The ingredients needed are as follows:

  • 2x Bloodgrass
  • 6x Garlic
  • 5x Nightshade
  • Blood Of An Argonian
  • Ashes Of A Powerful Vampire

Finding the first three ingredients isn’t difficult at all, but the rest of the items can be slightly tricky. Melisande, the Glenmoril Witch, will give you an enchanted dagger, so stabbing any random Argonian with it will get you the Blood of An Argonian.

For the Ashes Of a Powerful Vampire, you’ll have to make your way to Redwater Slough near Panther River. Here, you’ll find a Vampire called Hindaril. Kill him and you’ll get the Ashes. With all the ingredients, head back to Melisande, who will ask you to wait 24 hours.

You can wait anywhere except for her house. 24 hours later, she’ll hand you two potions:

  • Cure Vampire potion for you to use.
  • Vampirism Cure potion for Count Hassildor.

Drink the potion meant for you, and you’ll be easily cured of your affliction. However, once you’re cured, you won’t be able to turn into a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered for the rest of your playthrough. If you want to become a Vampire again, you’ll have to use console commands or start a fresh save.

How to Become a Vampire in Oblivion Remastered

The disease that makes you a vampire is called Porphyric Hemophilia. You can contract this disease if you’ve taken any physical damage from a vampire. Alternatively, you can also turn into a creature of the night if you eat the Beating Heart that you find in the Daedric quest called “Unearthing Mehrunes’ Razor” in Oblivion Remastered.

Becoming a Vampire is extremely beneficial if you’re having trouble defeating enemies around Cyrodiil. However, there’s no dedicated questline once you’ve become one. Additionally, exploring the lands is more difficult than normal because guards will attack you on sight. Plus, you’ll take damage from sunlight if you’re out in the sun, and be more susceptible to fire damage.
