How to Get Greater Blood Essence in V Rising

In V Rising, Greater Blood Essence is an important ingredient that you will need to progress through the main questline.

There are two ways to get Greater Blood Essence, but the only reliable way to do so is level locked. You’ll have to be at least level 45 if you’re looking for a steady and reliable supply of this item. 

How to Find Greater Blood Essence in V Rising

You can hunt down bosses to get your hands on Greater Blood Essence. Special V Blood bosses like Grayson the Armorer may occasionally drop the item when you defeat them, but the drop rates are extremely low. 

So the most reliable way to get Greater Blood Essence is by crafting it at the Blood Press that you’ve built at your own camp. You’ll need 12 Planks and 120 Stone to build this machine. After you’ve built it, make your way to Dunley Farmlands to find and defeat Tristan the Vampire Hunter. 

When you defeat him, he’ll drop the recipe to craft Greater Blood Essence. With the recipe now unlocked, you’ll be able to craft this item easily using four Unsullied Hearts. In case you’ve placed the Blood Press in the Alchemy Room, you’ll need just three Unsullied Hearts for one Greater Blood Essence. Alternatively, you’ll also be able to craft this item using 120 stacks of Blood Essence, too. 

Where to Find Unsullied Hearts

You can get Unsullied Hearts by defeating low-level bosses in V Rising. For example, bosses like Keely the Frost Archer or the Alpha Wolf have the potential to drop this heart whenever you defeat them. However, defeating a high-level skeleton will never drop Unsullied Hearts because these creatures don’t have a heart. 

What is Greater Blood Essence Used For in V Rising?

From turning humans into servants to crafting coffins, there are a lot of uses for Greater Blood Essence. The item is an important component for crafting weapons in the Merciless Set and the Rare Ancestral Set. However, its most crucial usage lies in creating the Primal Blood Essence, which will help you craft the Blood Key, an item required to breach Dracula’s Castle.
