How to Repair Your Gear in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered

Here's how you can repair your weapons and armor in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered and increase your Armorer skill too.

Unlike Skyrim, your gear (weapons and armor) will degrade as you keep using them in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered. So, you must fix them if you want to make it out alive from any battle.

While you can always switch out your gear pieces at any time, you can’t always have multiple copies because there’s a limit to the weight you can carry. If you have special sets like the Cataclysm set or the Order set, you’ll have to repair them to continue using them, because they don’t have duplicates, unless you choose to use console commands.

How to Repair Weapons and Armor in Oblivion Remastered

There are two ways to repair your weapons and armor:

  • Visit a blacksmith and purchase their repair services.
  • Use Repair Hammers.

Now, blacksmiths can be found at every major city in Oblivion Remastered, and will easily repair whatever armor you have, provided you have the coin for it. Repair Hammers, on the other hand, can help you repair your gear on the go.

Where to Find Repair Hammers in Oblivion Remastered

Typically, the best way to obtain a Repair Hammer is to purchase it from a blacksmith. There are a few traders who sell the item, too, but they’re rare. Alternatively, if you’re lucky enough, you might find a few inside chests too.

However, you’ll still need to have a high Armorer skill if you want to use a Repair Hammer effectively. We recommend mix and matching using blacksmith services and Repair Hammers during the early stages of the game until you get your Armorer Skill up to 50 or so. From that point onwards, you can depend entirely on your Repair Hammers to repair your gear. That way, you’ll end up saving a lot of gold!

How to Fix Enchanted Items in Oblivion Remastered

Blacksmiths in Cyrodiil are capable of repairing enchanted weapons, too, without breaking into a sweat. However, if you’re looking to do it on the fly, you’ll need to reach level 25 with the Armorer skill. Before you hit this mark, you won’t be able to fix any enchanted item at all, so it’s all the more important to start building up on this skill as soon as you can.

How to Increase Armorer Skill Quickly in Oblivion Remastered

The only way to increase your Armorer skill in Oblivion Remastered is by repairing your armor using Repair Hammers. However, the best way to do it is as follows:

  • Create custom Disintegrate Armor spell and Fortify Armorer spell. The former will break all armor that you have equipped, and the latter will increase your Armorer Skill temporarily
  • Cast both these spells on yourself, and then use the Repair Hammer to repair all your equipment.

Although time-consuming, it’s still faster than repairing random pieces of equipment in your inventory.
