Xbox Game Pass is immensely popular as a service, and it’s not surprising that everyone is wondering if games like The Precinct have joined its ranks.
With crime games like Schedule 1 and Cash Cleaner Simulator stealing the spotlight, The Precinct puts you in the shoes of a police officer in a sandbox environment. It’s as if the universe finally decided to restore the balance, one traffic stop at a time.
Will The Precinct be Available on Xbox Game Pass?
As of now, there’s no word of this game joining Xbox Game Pass. Usually, indie games launched on PC and Xbox make their way to the subscription service on launch day, exposing them to a wide range of players.
The Precinct, however, hasn’t embraced that model, and is available for purchase on all major storefronts, including the Xbox Marketplace. Given how much attention the game has received at launch, it could’ve performed even better if it had joined Microsoft’s subscription service. But there’s a possibility that it could come to the service at a later date.
By avoiding Game Pass, Fallen Tree Games has avoided some of the bigger problems other Indie titles face. The service is a very crowded place, and almost every major AAA release has a tie-up with Microsoft these days. In such cases, there’s always a chance of smaller indie releases getting lost in the mix.
Furthermore, a Game Pass launch creates the perception of a free game. So, even if The Precinct were to make it to a different storefront later, the developers and publishers would have a difficult time justifying their premium pricing.
These days, most launches are a gamble for the devs, and Fallen Tree Games seems to have hit the lucky number, at least for now. If they’re able to keep up their momentum, then there’s a possibility that they might release their policeman sandbox game on Microsoft’s subscription service for a second run!
