Marvel Rivals Failed to Connect to Steam 211 Error Reasons and Potential Fixes Explored

Here's why the Marvel Rivals failed to connect to steam 211 error occurs, and how you can possibly fix it.

Being a live service title, Marvel Rivals is prone to several network issues and the “Failed to Connect to Steam 211” error is one of them.

Although relatively new to the market, NetEase’s hero shooter has established itself as a top alternative to Blizzard’s Overwatch 2. Available across multiple platforms, the game runs smoothly, but it’s just on Steam that this pesky 211 error appears on. The relief however, is that you can fix it without too much effort.

Why Does the Failed to Connect to Steam 211 Error Occur?

Whenever Steam fails to connect to the Marvel Rivals servers, you’re bound to run into this error. This has nothing to do with NetEase’s servers for the most part, and it’s Valve who you should be blaming if you run into the 211 error. Additionally, you might also encounter this error if you’ve just changed your password too.

How to Fix the Marvel Rivals Failed to Connect to Steam 211 Error

The easiest way to fix this error is by restarting Steam. If you close the program, you’ll realise that it gets minimised to the taskbar. So, make sure you right-click on the Steam icon and then select “Quit” from there. That’ll ensure that Steam shuts down for good.

Once that happens, just launch Steam again and then launch Marvel Rivals. This should fix the error and take you straight into the game. At this step, you need to ensure that you start the app before you launch the game otherwise it’ll not work and you might encounter the same 211 error once again.

While you’re at this step, you can also quickly troubleshoot your network devices and restart your network devices too. Although the error isn’t network dependent entirely, it still doesn’t hurt to see if your internet working properly. That said, in case none of these methods work, there’s one last thing you can try. It’s a bit time consuming, but it’s something that should be your last resort.

In case you continue to experience the error on Steam and your internet is functional, we recommend uninstalling it completely, and then reinstalling through Epic Games Store. NetEase’s hero shooter is accessible via this platform too on PC, so, you don’t need to rely on Steam at all to play it. Since it’s a platform issue, taking the platform out of the equation is the best way to go about things.
