Raids and Dungeons are the most sought-after endgame activities in Destiny 2, featuring some difficult bosses coupled with complicated mechanics.
Over the years, Destiny 2 has seen the arrival of multiple bosses who’ve had major lore implications, but gameplay-wise, not all offer an intense challenge. However, some are absolutely lethal and can be a real pain to deal with, irrespective of how skilled you are.
Hardest Bosses in Destiny
When talking about the most difficult Raid and Dungeon bosses in Destiny 2, we’ll be taking into account the overall boss fight mechanics as well. Almost every boss encounter requires a basic level of coordination and understanding of the mechanics that the fight has to offer. But some of them are designed in such a way that most players will be able to solo them easily.
Hefnd’s Vengeance, Blighted Chimera

Hefnd’s Vengeance is a boss that you’ll come across in the Warlord’s Ruin Dungeon in Destiny 2. Just like Riven, Hefnd was also a wish dragon who fell to Lord Shaxx during the Great Ahamkara Hunt.
Although the fight doesn’t have too many complicated mechanics, it is chaotic and if you’re not careful enough, you might be forced to start the encounter over and over again.
Simmumah ur-Nokru

The Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon in Destiny 2 is the first to take players underwater, and features some of the most annoying boss fights.
The final boss of this Dungeon, Simmumah ur-Nokru, is as difficult as they come. Not only is it hard to land precision hits on this enemy, but you’ll also have to deal with a constant barrage of ads during the incredibly short damage phase. To make matters worse, there’s not enough cover in the arena, so picking a spot to deal damage can be an absolute nightmare.
Rhulk

Rhulk is the first time we get to go head-to-head against a Disciple of The Witness in the Vow of the Disciple Raid.
This boss fight includes some complicated mechanics, and the fight itself occurs in a very small arena. Rhulk has a variety of attacks, too, which can easily wipe a team of Guardians instantly. Just like Simmumah, he moves around the arena quite a lot, which forces you to move around while dealing damage and evading his attacks.
Riven

No list of hardest Destiny 2 bosses is complete if Riven isn’t included. This wish dragon was one of the Awoken’s biggest secrets and is the reason why the Dreaming City was cursed.
She’s the final boss of the Last Wish Raid, and has one of the most complicated fight mechanics. Right now, this fight is bearable because there’s a way to cheese it, but without the cheese, it’s as difficult as the Rhulk encounter.
The Witness

Not only is The Witness the final antagonist of the Light vs Darkness campaign, they’re also the final boss of the Salvation’s Edge Raid.
Every single encounter in the entire Raid is mechanically very heavy and requires a lot of coordination, but the final encounter is just a notch above everything else. The Witness is a very tanky boss, and although the fight arena is spread out a bit, it’s extremely chaotic because there are a lot of smaller enemies and minibosses that you’ll have to deal with while avoiding damaging beams dropping from the skies.
Apart from the ones mentioned above, the Warpriest from King’s Fall, Corrupted Puppeteer from Vesper’s Host and Kerrev, the Erased deserve recognition too. The bosses and the encounters they’re a part of are incredibly challenging, and have skill ceilings that you’ll need to hit if you want to complete the encounters without any hiccups.
