New Metal Gear “Development” At Konami

According to a job listing, Konami is looking for experienced programmers to work on upcoming games – including, surprise surprise, a brand-new “development” in the Metal Gear series.

Boy, Solid Snake just can’t get a rest, can he? First, Kojima said he was done with the series after MGS2. Then, he was calling it quits after MGS3. No, no – MGS4 would be the final game in the series (and to be fair, it wrapped up most of the loose ends fairly thoroughly – some would say almost too thoroughly). But the popular series wasn’t through, despite what Kojima said – Snake will be coming to the iPhone with Metal Gear Solid Touch.

Beyond Touch, though, is another Solid Snake adventure in the works? An official job listing posted by Konami seeking an experienced programmer mentions the usual suspects – they’re looking for a man to work on new games for mobile phones and consoles alike, with one specific mention emphasized with arrows:

>>> Staff wanted for a new development in the Metal Gear series!!<<<

The phrase “new development” seems to suggest that this job listing isn’t for Touch – but really, is anyone surprised that they’re continuing with a popular series? Anyone at all? Didn’t think so.

Of course, we know nothing about this “development” other than the fact that it exists, but rumors that this will be a Metal Gear title for the Xbox 360 ought to start in, oh, 3, 2, 1…
