Battlefield 6 leaks show off Golmud Railway and a new M16 to boot

It’s no secret that Golmud Railway is coming to Battlefield 6. The devs even said they are remastering the map, and it’s in tests right now. So color me shocked that someone leaked some gameplay of it on the leaks and rumours reddit via leaks on Billibilli. Naughty.

Yet there are a few secrets in there, such as adding in BF6’s destruction feature onto the map. There are also a few other sneaky bits in there, like the M16, for example. Now that’s new.

But, for BF4 fans who lived on his map, there seem to be a few subtle changes that should make the map feel a little different compared to its older equivalent.

BF6 Golmud Map layout changes, according to the leak

In terms of the map leak, it looks like they’ve made some adjustments to some of the map’s POIs.

The northern sites where the compounds used to be around A and B have a road leading north where the sniper hills are. Could be something up there now? There’s also a bit more to the south, towards F, with a road leading south to the edge of the map.

Then around D, there are a few more roads that connect you more easily towards B, for example. It should mean there are more ways to maneuver vehicles to assault those central points more cleanly from the more densely controlled areas of the map.

Some interesting things that the sites seem to offer are more spawning sites for vehicles. It’s hard to make out in the footage, but F, aka Warehouse, looks like it has 4 spawn icons compared to the two it had previously.

So it seems like it wants more urban combat around the north and central, and more vehicles controlling the south, if we are reading that correctly.

Overall, these are very interesting changes if all of these things are indeed true. Golmud used to be one of the most hectic maps for vehicle control, sniping, and retaking. So with these map layout changes, some adjustments to vehicles and kits, we should see a different map.

Snipers should be less oppressive on the map anyway, with respawn beacons off recon to stop snipers sitting up on the hills. Sure, open class playlists could put snipers on assault and respawn that way, but there’s a lot less team utility, as you’ll want recon with their vehicle spotting tools up there too, given the new lanes, vehicles, and other tools in the game now.

Perhaps assault snipers might use the ladder to make it easier to get on the railway line now and snipe and control those angles instead. Certainly some different playstyles opening up for open playlists at any rate.

M16A3 spotted

The other interesting reveal is the clip showed off the M16A3, so it’s nice to know there’s another popular weapon on the way at some point.

However, there’s no news on when this map and gun could drop. It could be Season 3, at the same time, or at different season phases. Hard to tell right now, as we know the season is still in the works.

It is safe to say that it probably won’t be Season 2, with most of the content already launching most of the content in the Season 2 roadmap.

If you want to test stuff like this, sign up for Battlefield Labs. It’s essentially an NDA test server that EA and co want players to provide feedback for in development features. Doesn’t stop leaks from appearing, though.
