While the Battlefield 6 beta meta is dominated by the versatile and high-rate-of-fire guns, the M417 is falling under the radar. Yet, its damage profile makes it a strong battle rifle, especially for controlling mid-range or anchoring angles. When used in those settings, not many weapons can compete with it. Let’s take a look at one of the strongest rifles per round in the game.
M417 Loadout & Attachments
These are the recommended attachments for a more tactical M417 A2 BF6 beta loadout:
- Optic: 3x Scope
- Canted: Canted Red Sight
- Ammunition: Soft Point
- Underbarrel: 6H64
- Muzzle: No Muzzle
- Barrel: 16.5″ Barrel
The M417 is a strong weapon, with a low base magazine capacity and an okay fire rate. You won’t be winning fights like CoD players running around and using run-and-gun tactics with weapons like the M4A1 Carbine. So, the M417 is a long-range weapon for control, with short-range anchoring in mind.
The underbarrel and barrel give you strong recoil control and keep your velocity and ranged accuracy strong. This is what you need for that long-range control and headshot damage.
Meanwhile, the ammunition is there to give you strong headshot multipliers. With the high 33 base damage per round before damage fall-off, the Soft Point rounds hit extremely hard. It turns the gun into a two-hit kill, which is extremely strong in this version of the game.
We also recommend using a 3x scope to utilize that strong damage per round and range effectiveness. When you need to go in close, being able to switch to your canted sight is very strong. Since you’re in ADS most of the time anyway, the canted sight works in your favor, allowing you to easily switch magnification and maintain accuracy when you need to quickly switch to CQB encounters. Not to mention, you want to be hitting first to really get the headshot multiplier going, and to avoid the rate of fire weakness the gun has versus the more meta guns.
In terms of classes, we strongly recommend this rifle be used by the Engineer or Recon. The Engineer can harass targets at a distance, like softening up vehicle repairers, before unleashing their RPGs on armored opponents. In addition, Recon players can use this gun to have a range advantage while playing the more aggressive Recon role, doing heavy spotting with UAVs while pushing areas and getting useful objective-taking information for their team.
