Black Ops 7: Best loadout for M8A1 – Is the M16 back? How to dominate in the Beta

The M8A1 burst rifle has rekindled memories of classic M16 dominance  from CoD4 in the Black Ops 7 beta, with players claiming the weapon could finally restore burst rifles to competitive viability after years of underwhelming iterations.

The M8A1 puts a burst fire control spin on the M8 platform, specifically designed to satisfy players nostalgic for old-school M16 gameplay. Beta testing suggests the weapon can achieve one-burst kills with a headshot and two body shots. It’s why we are starting to see loadouts with strong visual clarity and recoil control to make the weapon work. Players are pairing the Lethal Tools ELO optic with the Redwell 5.56 Compensator. The Ironhold Angled Grip further enhances vertical stability, creating a setup where tracking burst rounds becomes significantly easier. This three-piece is largely what makes the weapon so easily usable after a few level-ups with the gun.

If you want to skip the early crap levels, use the basic class with the M8A1 in, as it comes with a rather magnified sight, but you get other stuff with it to make it a bit easier to use early on.

The Sentinel Extended Mag provides crucial extra ammunition for distance engagements and multikill scenarios where reload timing could prove fatal.

There’s no real consensus on what class setup to run with it. But those hungry for nukes and scorestreaks tend to grab the stimshot at the very least. That way, they recover HP fast and can extend their firefights and not die. Flak Jacket and Ammo boxes tend to be must-haves thanks to the power of the new cluster bombs and other silly score streaks in the game. Ammo boxes are nice too, as you can restock your ammo, and not rely on running close with a burst fire weapon.
