Helldivers 2 players are review bombing once more over performance issues

Helldivers 2’s ratings have sunken to “mixed” on Steam as performance issues persist.

Since its release in February 2024, Helldivers 2 has been met with overall excitement from the gaming community. Just a few weeks ago, Helldivers hit about 1 million copies on Xbox Series X|S. However, players have started to grow tired of ongoing performance issues on PC.

Helldivers 2 now “mixed” on Steam

Helldivers 2’s most recent reviews have sunk to “mixed” on Steam due to ongoing performance issues. Some of the issues mentioned on Steam include the game constantly crashing mid-match and frame rates getting slashed in half or worse. Gamers were especially salty after Helldivers 2 added a Halo: ODST crossover, making it seem like developers were more invested in adding content rather than fixing the game’s performance.

However, Arrowhead CEO Shams Joranji has acknowledged the ongoing performance complaints and addressed them on Discord. He said the team is “well aware” of the game’s stability problems and is hard at work trying to fix it all.

The game’s overall reviews on Steam are still “mostly positive” but the freezing, lagging, and frame rate drops have started to turn the tide.

The Helldivers 2 community is quite familiar with the review bomb tactic. They have bombarded Helldivers 2 with bad reviews over a lot of things in the past, including weapon nerfs and matchmaking issues. At least Helldivers 2 is largely past the political crap that was causing negative attention earlier this month.
