World of Tanks x Tomb Raider tie-in

The Tomb Raider x World of Tanks tie-in that nobody really needs

Tie-ins are big business in video games these days. Companies see them as a great way to introduce fans of different gaming IPs, or even non-gaming fans, to their games. Sometimes they work – like the Solo Leveling: Arise one with the pop band that feels right, and sometimes they are just a little bit more on the “why are you doing this?” side of things.

The blurb for this slightly weird Lara Croft tank driver crossover reads as though it is not even convinced itself: “World of Tanks might be unfamiliar territory, but Lara is no stranger to challenge. Whether it’s navigating ancient ruins or outmaneuvering enemies on a dynamic battlefield, her strengths remain the same: focus, adaptability, and courage.

Her arrival in World of Tanks is more than a crossover. It’s a new way to experience her story, one mission at a time.”

Okaaaay.

I would imagine you would struggle to find many players of either Tomb Raider or World of Tanks who were clamoring for this crossover. World of Tanks is not exactly known for its archeological raiding of tombs.

Lara’s appearance is part of a new Heroes’ Paths Battle Pass, which also features Duke Nukem. Still ridiculous but perhaps more of a fit… just.

World of Tanks publisher, The Wargaming Group, has come under some flak of its own for announcing the sunsetting of its new mech game Steel Hunters after just three months.
