Road to Vostok sales have funded the game’s production for ‘years and years’ to come, says dev

The extraction and hardcore genre has gone through the wringer the last month, with non-stop negative analytics staring at Marathon, and The Cycle: Frontier extraction game going offline within 3 weeks of its shutdown announcement. Yet, Road to Vostok was not dissuaded, thanks to its growing popularity and hype as a single-player game with a strong tech demo. And the first 24 hours of sales indicate that the game is fully funded for fans of the single-player Tarkov-like.

According to the dev on Twitter:

“Road to Vostok is currently Top Seller in many countries, front page on Steam and with Very Positive rating. I will share some launch stats when I have gathered enough data (+ some sleep), but I can already say that the launch has been extremely successful for a solo dev and secured the entire production budget for this game for years and years to come.”

Road to Vostok’s estimated sales

The solo Finnish developer has made enough sales from the first 24 hours that, even through Steam’s cut, the game will likely be performing very well. The game launched in Early Access on April 7th, and the sales seem to justify its earnings already. Bear in mind it’s a solo developer in Finland, so Steam sales can go very far for the dev. That’s even with the $15 price tag, with a 25% discount on the game right now anyway.

According to one analytics site we can check called Gamalytic, there are some estimations that it has sold around 63,000 copies so far. That’s an estimated gross revenue of about $850,000, which is around €720,000. Given the average good salary in Finland is about €40,000, the game has performed extremely well given that context for a solo developer.

This is, of course, the first day or two of figure estimations. It aligns pretty well with what the dev says. Given the discount is still going for another 2 weeks, and the Road to Vostok roadmap says there are at least 3 big updates this year, expect that figure to grow. Then there are a few more updates for 2027, with a probable 2028 full release. So expect Road to Vostok to perform very well even in the years to come.
