PlayStation 5 owners will finally get to have a crack at Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl later this year, after the devs, GSC Game World, dropped a quick post on X and a short, less than a minute-long announcement trailer.
Arriving with an expected load of bugs, Stalker 2 has now been nicely patched up to its 1.5 version, and we will probably get more patches to buff things up still further before the PS5 version hits the digital storefront.
The post on X GSC Game World said, “The Perimeter expands – Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is officially announced for PlayStation 5.”
The devs have also indicated that the game will take advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for more immersion, while other PS5 technical enhancements will be announced nearer the time of launch.
Stalker 2 originally came out as a PC and Xbox exclusive, and, despite its issues, still stands up as a notable sequel to the previous games, despite being developed in Ukraine, where things are more intense because of the war. In fact, the developers relocated away from the war zone in order to ensure that the game could be released on time, but have firmly stuck to their roots, raising money for those who are affected by the conflict, especially children whose education has been hit due to damage to their schools and power infrastructure.
The Russians, for their part, accused the game of being a way of drafting players into the war for real – I know, I know. The world is crazy right now.
When is Stalker 2 out on PS5?
Alongside the trailer, we know so far that the game is earmarked for “late” 2025, so we are thinking it will probably stretch to a December release in time for the holiday season, which, to be fair, isn’t really that far off already. You can add it to your wishlist right now.
