Tekken The Board Game

Tekken – The Board Game – it’s not cheap but gets funded in 35 minutes

We have covered a few board games based on video games of late. We have seen tabletop iterations of both The Witcher and Diablo in recent times, but this Tekken board game is the most extravagant of the lot, and we are very, very interested in seeing how it plays out.

So it seems is everybody else, as the game reached its funding goal in under 36 minutes and currently sits at having raised over half a million Euros from its initial target of €50k

Tekken – The Board Game is billed as an asymmetric fighting game where you can become one of 39 (yes, 39) iconic characters, fighting on various stages in either a single match or a full, epic tournament.

To get the full experience – that’s all characters and stages – you are going to need to back the All-In version which comes in at a whopping €299 Euros (reduced from €368 for the launch), but there is a Core Set for a more pocket-friendly €80 and even a Starter Set for around €30 that you can add to your pledge. That’s a little confusing because it’s listed as an add-on, and if you buy the Core, you don’t need to add the Starter set, as everything is included.

Each fighter in the game gets a 50mm super-detailed mini, many of which have an additional special move add-on piece. They come in base grey, so if you are a dab hand with a paintbrush, knock yourself out.

The All-In pledge gets you all the expansions, or you can bolt a few on separately, with things like The King of the Iron Fist Tournament being suitable for up to eight players.

At the time of publication, there are just four days left to jump on board, and with backers receiving their games at least six weeks before the game hits game stores, plus the added discount, if you are keen, it is definitely worth jumping in.
