c64 Mini Black Edition

Here comes the C64 Mini – Black Edition – for when there aren’t enough new retro machines incoming

I seem to be writing more about Commodore products here in 2025 than I ever did when I was editor of Amiga Action back in the 1990s. The renaissance is real folks.

From the stories of Commodore’s rebirth to yesterday’s counter-claims that it had never really been away, there seems to be no shortage of people prepared to put their money where their mouths are when it comes to lining up new hardware.

The excellent Retro Games Limited has been putting out great mini versions of our favorite memories for many years now, and now on the table is this luscious new Black Edition of the terrific little C64 Mini.

“THEC64 mini – Black Edition is more than just a color change,” said Ben Jones, Commercial Director at Plaion Replai. “This is a celebration of the passionate developers, artists, and fans who never stopped creating. Back In Black is about showing that retro still has edge, energy, and soul.”

“The RGL team would like to thank the community that has kept the flame burning so brightly for over 40 years. This lineup celebrates some of the very best games created by members of that same community, games that have continually pushed the boundaries of what was thought possible with THEC64 since its original release. We thank you, and we salute you.”

The three directors of RGL – Paul Andrews, Chris Smith, and Darren Melbourne – further noted: “We quite literally couldn’t have done it without all of you.”

The Black Edition is available for pre-order today, although we don’t know if the link has gone live yet, so keep checking as it’s not appearing for us right now. It’s priced at £89.99.
