Woman wins local Mortal Kombat tournament with newborn in her arms

A casual Mortal Kombat XL player known as Legi0n recently won a local FGC tournament while holding her five-day-old baby.

An image of one of Legi0n’s matches was shared on X by her husband, which ultimately went viral in the fighting game space. People started joking that the baby had coached her and others worried what would happen if the baby “popped off” after winning. While there were some legit concerns about the baby’s immune system, most people felt the image was powerful, showing Legi0n’s strength and dedication.

Despite having a C-section birth just five days ago, Legi0n ended up winning the tournament after a Grand Final against her husband. Even though she was nerfed by holding a baby, she still beat him, which is pretty badass.

The prize? $28 and a trip to DreamHack Atlanta. (The FGC has never really been about money.)

“So glad that we honestly left the house and did this,” Legi0n tweeted. “Our daughter’s so chill around noise and car rides, possibly because I traveled so much while pregnant…

“Never want to stop doing things that I love. Just need to adjust my life accordingly for our younger daughter.”

Amen. The message is especially powerful since Legi0n almost died from childbirth complications during both pregnancies. Her first daughter, Alcina, only lived for 11 days due to Kasabach-Merritt Syndrome.

“I want to be very vocal about how serious pregnancy and childbirth as a whole is,” she said. “You can literally die, and I almost did. Twice.”

Honestly, never stop doing what you love. You never know where life will take you. Just pick up the controller and grind with friends. The FGC is just built different.
