Sony Connect, a multimedia store service, assists its PlayStation brethren.
Technology and business news website PaidContent revealed the news that Sony's Connect division, which is responsible for the media giant's online video, music and ebook sales, will be refocusing its efforts to support the PlayStation group with the PlayStation Network. Both music and video stores will be shut down and 20 employees were let go in the transition. The ebook team has survived to continue working on the Sony Reader.
Steve Banfield, the head of the Sony Connect division, is leaving the company. His slack will be picked up by Tim Schaaff and Fumi Kanagwa, who will co-lead the remaining 80 staff members devoted to the PlayStation project. News as to whether the Sony Coonnect brand will continue to be used has not been announced.
