AT&T has joined with Windows Mobile, HTC and I-play for the AT&T Game Development Contest for Windows Mobile, featuring a $25,000 cash prize and a distribution contract.

Entrants have until July 31 to submit an "original game application" designed for Windows Mobile, which will be judged on gameplay value and quality, uniqueness and creativity and marketplace potential. Judges will select ten semi-finalists by mid-August, which will then be narrowed down to three finalists and then one Grand Prize winner, to be announced in September.

The Grand Prize winner will receive $25,000, as well as the opportunity for an I-play distribution contract and placement on the AT&T Media Mall games portal, a trip for two to the CTIA Conference in San Francisco, security and certification signing waivers, passes to the Professional Developers Conference and an HTC mobile phone. The two runners-up will receive $5000 each, a trip for two to the CTIA Conference and passes for the PDC, security and certification signing waivers and an HTC handset.

Contest entries must include a digital CAB file of a functional Windows-based game that will run on an AT&T Tilt, Samsung Blackjack II and/or AT&T 8525 handset, a jpg-format screenshot of the game, and documentation including a description of the game, gameplay instructions and design notes. More information is available from the AT&T devCentral website, including links to device specifications and Windows Mobile 6.0 SDKs.
