“No, Deadpool Won’t Be in Logan” – Almost Everyone

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Isn’t internet reporting fun?

Yesterday, TheWrap reported that Ryan Reynolds had filmed a scene for the solo Wolverine movie, Logan, as Deadpool. The internet, of course, took this as fact and ran with it. This prompted a response from Logan director James Mangold, whose Twitter feed is now full of denials. Reynolds himself denied the report, which claimed that the scene was directed by Deadpool 2 director David Leitch. Hugh Jackman, who has played Wolverine in the X-Men movies for over 15 years now, echoed the sentiments.

But, really, would it makes sense for the snarky Deadpool to show up in Logan? The new film, judging by its trailer, has a very somber tone. Throwing Deadpool in the mix just wouldn’t work – it would be tonal whiplash. TheWrap didn’t say the characters would be together and speculated that the alleged scene could be reserved for after the credits, but everyone is saying this isn’t the case.

The possibility still remains that the denials are simply an attempt to hide the surprise. Personally, I doubt that, but we shall see.

Logan is scheduled to be released on March 3, 2017.
