Okamiden Launch Trailer Makes You Want to Hug a Puppy

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

If only all gods incarnated themselves as adorable wolf pups, the world would be a better place.

I’m not going to say that we here at The Escapist ever repeat ourselves, but I will say that there has been a common refrain in all of our Okamiden coverage ever since the DS game was first announced. It goes something like this: “Awww, lookit the cute widdle sun-god-puppy!”

Yes, the residents of Chez Escape are quite fond of puppies, especially those of the magical sun-god sort. Can you blame us, though?

Okamiden hit shelves yesterday across North America, meaning that it’s time for us all to start playing with Chibiterasu ourselves rather than just watching cute videos and wishing we were doing exactly that. But there’s one more video for all of you – Capcom’s launch trailer, which does a good job at setting up the characters, locations and powers that the player and Chibiterasu will encounter on their joint adventure.

Unsurprisingly, it’s just as super-cute as it’s ever been (aww, the puppy is dancing). It even might be enough to tide over our Australian and European viewers, who don’t get the game until March 17th or March 18th, respectively.

Is it just me, though, or is there a potentially-major spoiler in that trailer? Pause it around 1:53 – that looks like Amaterasu, not Chibiterasu, to me. Will the puppy’s goddess-mom be making an appearance after all? One can only hope.

Now if you’ll forgive me, I just need to get it out of my system: Puppy! Puppy puppy puppy puppy puppy!
