Patapon 2 Remastered Gets New Trailer, Releases Later This Week

As the name suggests, Patapon 2 Remastered is an updated version of the original 2008 (2009 internationally) PlayStation Portable release. Beyond the expected graphical updates including running at a full 4K resolution, it will also feature new Patapon evolutions and minigames. Sony says that there are “many more surprises in store” as well. It will cost $14.99 once it releases on Thursday.

Just like its predecessor, which saw a remastered release in 2018, Patapon 2 Remastered revolves around the player commanding troops by entering rhythmic drum patterns. There are over 30 missions in the sequel, and it’s more varied than the original thanks to its stage types that range from escorts to boss battles.

“Cut off from their Zigoton compatriots after a Kraken attacks their ship, the Patapon tribe find themselves ship-wrecked on a strange new lan ,” said producer Nick Accordino describing the story of Patapon 2 Remastered. “As their deity, it’s your job to lead the Patapon army using a variety of rhythmic drum commands as they encounter brand new enemies, allies and a host of new bosses as they continue their search for their promised land, Earthend. Combine the various chains of drumbeats to address each unique level, leading the Patapons to victory over the enemy forces.”
