Lily Hoshino, artist and Penguindrum character designer, completed her tribute to Fire Emblem with a spread of the cast.

For the last week artist Lily Hoshino, best known for her character design in the anime Peguindrum (Mawaru Penguindrum in Japanese), is quite the fan of RPG Fire Emblem. Hoshino has been working on a spread of the characters from Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken (simply Fire Emblem in its western version) for the last week. Completing the tribute today, she uploaded it to Pixiv, a Japanese community for artists.

Over the week as Hoshino worked on the tribute, she showed her Twitter followers her process from sketching to inking to coloring her art. Beginning with a rough sketch of the characters in blue, Hoshino then went over her sketch, lining it and erasing the blue left behind. She posted two pictures of her coloring before finishing the spread, as the spread shows her finished product.

Hoshino also illustrated individual characters from Fire Emblem, such as Hector, one of three protagonists, the thief Matthew, another protagonist Eliwood, the knights Kent and Sain, and the lovable Serra and her friend Erk. To top it off, she also recently drew a tribute to Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.

Hoshino’s illustrations can also be seen in the end cards to Penguindrum, a 24-episode anime about fate, family, love, and penguins. Fire Emblem launched in 2003 and was the first game in the series to be released for North America and Europe.
