PopCap Games has announced that they will be giving away free copies of their popular hit game Bejeweled Deluxe – but only for Mom.

Starting May 9, subscribers to the PopCap newsletter will receive an email containing a special link and registration code for a free copy of the full retail version of Bejeweled Deluxe. The offer will run through May 23 and must be redeemed by May 30. Subscribers with Bejeweled-playing mothers can give the gift by simply forwarding the email to Mom.

Based on the company’s information, Bejeweled is an ideal Mother’s Day gift. As well as being enormously popular, with over 10 million copies sold, PopCap surveys indicate that 75 percent of Bejeweled players are female, while 89 percent are age 30 or older.

First released in 2001, Bejeweled began life as a Flash-based web game, and was a huge early success for PopCap Games. Since then, it has been ported to numerous other platforms, including Microsoft Windows, the Xbox, Palm OS and PocketPC-based hand-helds, and the Apple iPod. The Bejeweled franchise remains PopCap’s biggest success to date.

PopCap Games is an online developer and publisher known primarily for developing games with broad appeal among casual gamers. Most of their titles are available for limited free play, either online or as a trial download.

More information is available at the PopCap website, and a link to subscribe to the PopCap newsletter can be found here.
