Rayman Leaked as Super Smash Bros. 4 DLC Character? – Update: Fake

Some images and a convincing video have surfaced showing Rayman as a new fighter for Super Smash Bros. 4.

Update: Sorry folks, it looks like this one was a hoax. The creator of the “leak” has just released a video explaining exactly how he went about faking Rayman’s inclusion in the game.

Original Story: We already know that Nintendo’s mascot brawler Super Smash Bros. 4, recently released for the 3DS and Wii U, will be getting at least one DLC character, but the question on many fan’s minds was “surely, it won’t just be MewTwo?” Well, a set of images and a short video have popped up on the internet, seemingly telling of another upcoming character: Rayman, of Ubisoft’s Rayman franchise.

First up, check out the video to the right, which shows Rayman being selected as a character. Although it doesn’t actually show him in combat two things add a bit of credibility to it: the presence of MewTwo on the character select screen, suggesting that it is an internal alpha build, and the fact that Nintendo has been very quick to pull it down whenever it pops up (at time of writing, it had already been re-uploaded twice, and we apologize if it is no longer available when you read this article).

Just in case the video does get pulled again, here’s a few screengrabs from it:

Of course, there has been no official word from Nintendo or Ubisoft on this, so please take this rumor with as much salt as you deem necessary. If true, Rayman would join Pacman, Megaman and Sonic as the forth non-Nintendo character in the game.

Earlier in the game’s development, another leak suggested that Snake, Ice Climbers, Lucas, and Wolf, who were present in Brawl but were cut from the latest title, would be added back in as DLC characters. However, game director Masahiro Sakurai did explicitly state that the Ice Climbers were cut due to hardware limitations.
