Konami may not be all in on pachinko machines yet, as a new rumor has sprouted up stating the company has two new Silent Hill games in the works.

The rumors started when Twitter user AestheticGamer — who has correctly predicted other gaming-related information in the past — said that they heard the publisher contacted developers hoping to find strong pitches for Silent Hill games “about two years ago.” One game is supposedly planned to be a soft reboot for the franchise, while the other is an episodic Telltale or Until Dawn-like game intended to accompany the reboot. The leaker conceded not to know “much about the inner workings of Konami” though.

Following these rumors, website Rely on Horror published a report backing up the rumor: “We can also verify that, while we can’t discuss any details, we’ve also heard from our own independent source that a Silent Hill project is in development. These two sources are (in our opinion) the strongest evidence yet that Silent Hill may really be back from the dead.”

You should take these rumors with a grain of salt for now, but it is exciting to learn that the return of the Silent Hill franchise may be on the way. The last time Konami released a proper new video game entry in the genre-defining series was in 2012 with Silent Hill: Book of Memories.

Konami canceled its now infamous Silent Hills project in 2015, which had Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, and Norman Reedus attached. Konami had revealed its existence with a demo called PT, which received praise across the board as fans obsessively tried to crack the demo’s many secrets. A falling out between the developer and Kojima effectively brought an to that project though.
