GSC Game World has announced the release of the beta version of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. multiplayer SDK.

In a post on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. website, the team invites all would-be mod-makers to download and try the tools, and to give feedback and recommendations on the official GSC Mod Discussion forum. The post also asks for volunteers with mod-building experience who wish to take on responsibilities such as organizing the community, editing documentation and working with tutorials.

The beta release includes map creation and editing tools, and the complete source assets of one in-game level, with plans for the release of all nine multiplayer levels sometime in the future. GSC also plans on unveiling an official website dedicated to mod-building for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. within a week’s time, and once the multiplayer SDK is “fully mastered,” they plan to release the editor for the single-player mode of the game as well.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. multiplayer SDK beta release is available for download here.
