The final mission in The Precinct gives you the choice to either publish or destroy the evidence, which will allow you to alter how the game ends.
The evidence that you get is pretty incriminating and is about a high ranking police official being involved in the August Gang case. Since it’s about an officer, you cannot confront them yourself, so the next bet you’ve got is to either take everything that you’ve gathered to a newspaper office and ask them to publish it for you. Alternatively, you can choose to burn it down and walk down the path of corruption yourself.
What Happens if You Destroy the Evidence in The Precinct?
If you choose to destroy the evidence, you’ll need to take the case with all the reports to Chief Cordell’s statue and burn it. The newspapers will praise you for rescuing the Police Chief from the infamous August Gang and taking them down in the process. Chief Jackson will also thank you for not revealing the departments ties with the gang, and so will your fellow officers.

The public sentiment towards the officers and Chief Cordell will remain the same, and they’ll still regard him as a hero in The Precinct.
What Happens if You Publish the Evidence in The Precinct?
Alternatively, if you decide to publish the evidence, you’ll have to take everything and make your way to ACTV Station and then hand it over to the reporters. They’ll launch an exclusive media campaign about corruption in The Precinct, and how Chief Jackson is involved with the August Gang.

There’s going to be a lot of public outrage about your decision and people will also have a negative sentiment about the department moving forward. Chief Cordell’s statue will be taken down but the new police Chief will praise you for the way you’ve handled the case.
What Should You Do With the Evidence?
No matter what choice you make, not much is going to change in terms of the gameplay moving forward. You’ll still be able to participate in patrols as you normally would. Apart from a few different dialogue lines and cutscenes, there’s not much difference between the choices that you’re being asked to make.
However, since the game literally forces you to go down the correct path and penalizes you for bending the rules, it’s best that you do the right thing and publish the evidence in The Precinct. That way, you stick to the role of a good cop, and prove that no one should be above the law.
