Splatoon gets a new, singleplayer focused trailer to go with its release date announcement.
Splatoon has been a game that we at The Escapist have enjoyed pretty much every time we got our hands on it. Until now, all we’ve seen is the game’s 4v4 multiplayer chaos, but in today’s Nintendo Direct, we were finally given a glimpse into the game’s singleplayer campaign.
First up, check out the trailer to the right. From the looks of things, the baddies in this game will, appropriately, be various variations on octopi, with the singleplayer portion of the game taking on a more platforming vibe (if you watch closely, there is even a quick snippet of what appears to be an 8-bit platforming throwback). It’s certainly a really cool way to handle the campaign, rather than it just being the multiplayer mode with bots.
Another bit of information we gleamed from the trailer was a slightly more solid release date. Back in E3, Nintendo told us Splatoon would be out in “2015”, now, we’ve been told “Q2 2015,” which still keeps us in the first half of the year.
Splatoon is shaping up to be Nintendo’s freshest, most unique game, and at least from my personal experience, one that is a tonne of fun. You should probably keep your eye on this one.
