Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Gameplay Reveal Trailer Features Clones and Lightsabers, and All the Game’s DLC Will be Free

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

The new gameplay trailer for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is exciting, but what’s more exciting is that all its DLC will be free.

EA says that it has taken fan criticism of Star Wars: Battlefront to heart, and the first trailer and news for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 seems to show that. You’ll not only see some brief scenes from the multiplayer (featuring the Assault on Theed from The Phantom Menace, you’ll also see heroes like Rey, Kylo Ren, Darth Maul, and Yoda. Towards the end of the trailer, there are some brief scenes of space battles, as well as some from the game’s campaign as well.

Although the trailer definitely caught our attention, the news that accompanied it did so even more.

As you might imagine, EA is planning several DLCs for Battlefront 2, and the first one will be for The Last Jedi. It will add the planet of Crait (the new planet shown off in the movie’s trailer) as well as Finn and Captain Phasma as playable heroes. What’s going to surprise you isn’t that there is DLC – it’s that all the DLC will be free.

According to The Wall Street Journal, EA plans to have more DLC packs this time around, and to release them more frequently, but they will be somewhat smaller in size than those for the previous game. The company also plans to add microtransactions in the form of card packs that can be purchased to upgrade your characters in the game.

It sounds like EA has taken some of its criticisms to heart, and let’s not forget that it’s Star Wars. People are likely to buy the hell out of it no matter what EA does.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is releasing worldwide on November 17. EA and Origin Access members will get a Play First Trial beginning on November 9, and those who pre-order the Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition will get into the game three days early on November 14.
